Here are the top stories today in Bedford:
- Watch out for slippery driving conditions in Bedford Saturday morning. A Special Weather Statement is in effect until early Saturday morning. Overnight temperatures in the 20s and light winds may create black ice on wet pavement and places where the snow melted on sidewalks. Side roads and secondary roads may look wet, but may have re-frozen, the National Weather Service warned. Drivers should "proceed with caution" Saturday morning. (Weather.com)
- What is a morning of frozen Penguin Play? Kids ages 3 to 6 are in for "some sensory fun" while exploring "skating penguins, a frozen nature wreath, and finger painting a snowman." It's all happening Saturday, Jan. 21 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bedford Public Library! Register kids ages 3-6 here: (The Bedford Public Library via Facebook)
- Did you miss the Cozy Blanket workshop? You have another chance to make your own cozy blanket, with no knitting required! After a brief holiday break, the Canvas Road Show is brimming with new ideas and filling its calendar with events. The Cozy Blanket workshop is back on Jan. 12 at 6:30 p.m. (sign up by Jan. 10). - Jo Hendry (from Educational Farm) and Kathleen Ports have planned several outdoor events for Bedford over the next few months. The family snowshoe/hike event scheduled for Friday, Jan. 6 was postponed to today, Saturday, Jan. 7, Kathleen informed Patch. The event will take place at Legacy Park at 5:30 p.m. (for ages 5+ to learn about nocturnal animals), with an adult walk (16+) at 8 p.m. "If we can’t snowshoe, we will walk."
