NEW HAMPTON, NH - On August 7, 2020 at approximately 1:52 PM, the New Hampshire State Police-Marine Patrol responded to a report of an unresponsive swimmer on the Pemigewasset River in the Town of New Hampton.

Officers arrived on scene to learn that a 17-year old male became distressed while swimming and disappeared from sight. Friends located him underwater and with the assistance of bystanders, he was brought back to shore where CPR was performed until first responders arrived. The victim was transported to Speare Hospital in Plymouth where he was pronounced deceased.

Responding agencies included N.H. State Police, New Hampton Police and the New Hampton Fire Department.
