By becoming a Recovery Friendly Workplace, the New Hampshire Department of Corrections commits to encourage a healthy and safe environment for its staff by recognizing recovery from substance use disorder as a strength, and by its willingness to work with team members in recovery.

“As Corrections professionals, we chose this line of work because of our desire to help others,” said Commissioner Hanks. “In providing daily services and care for others, we often forget to care for ourselves. The Recovery Friendly Workplace initiative provides our department with an important tool to further our goal of providing a healthy, safe, and stigma-free environment, where employees feel comfortable reaching out for help when they need it.”
