Truck Driving With Boom Up Snags Wires; Dropping Wire On Truck

Pembroke Fire, Police, and Eversource responded to an incident with a wire across a truck with the driver still in it

PEMBROKE, NH - On September 3, 2020 at 11:10 am Pembroke Fire and Police were called to Keith Ave and Route 106 for wires down on a truck. Additional reports came in the driver was remaining in the cab, and some small fires were starting due to live wires down.

On their arrival Pembroke Fire found multiple wires which were pulled down by a truck that accidentally left their boom up when driving. The truck which had a sign on it labeled as "XTreeC Tree Service" had left a worksite on Keith Ave.

Eversource was called to the scene and Keith Ave was blocked off to traffic at Route 106. A breaker was damaged and affected power to parts of Rte 106 and Keith Ave.

When Eversource arrived they determined the wire on the truck was from Consolidated Communications, but other wires had been pulled down in the area. A Eversource lineman removed the wire from the truck so the driver could safely exit the truck.

The driver of the truck then was able to lower the boom of the truck, and the wire was removed from the boom which had a log grappling mechanism.
