Elderly Florida Woman Killed In Early Friday Morning Route 101 Crash
Patricia Strohman of The Villages drove an SUV off the highway in Epping near the Martin Road overpass; crash is still under investigation.
EPPING, NH — New Hampshire State Police are investigating an early morning Route 101 crash on Friday that took the life of an elderly woman from Florida.
Troopers were sent to the westbound side of the highway in Epping just before 2 a.m. after receiving a report that a 2015 Nissan Rogue crashed near the Martin Road overpass. The driver, Patricia Strohman, 70, of The Villages in Florida, was “severely injured and heavily entrapped” inside the SUV, according to Trooper Nicole Stone of NHSP. Epping and Raymond police, as well as Brentwood and Epping fire and the Exeter Hospital ALS unit, all arrived at the scene to assist. Stone said the investigation revealed Strohman “lost control of the Nissan,” which led to her driving off the right side of the highway, along several hundred feet of a grassy embankment, where she struck a cement bridge abutment of the overpass.
“Ultimately,” Stone said, “Strohman succumbed to her injuries at the scene.”

Traffic was diverted off Exit 7 for about three and a half hours. The New Hampshire Department of Transportation, the state police Unmanned Aerial Systems Unit, the chief medical examiner, and the New England Truck Center all assisted during the investigation. Stone said the case was still under investigation since the cause of the lost vehicle was unknown, according to a report.
Anyone with information was asked to contact Trooper Clark Brighton at clark.a.brighton@dos.nh.gov.
