Exeter Woman Killed On Front Street Identified By Officials

Janet Rischeill Kelsen, 88, who was found dead Sunday due to blunt head trauma, is being investigated as a homicide.

EXETER, NH — The death of an elderly woman killed on Front Street is being investigated by Exeter police and New Hampshire State Police investigators, according to the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office.

The woman was identified as Janet Rischeill Kelsen, 88.

According to officials, Deputy Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Mitchell Weinberg determined Kelsen’s cause of death was blunt head trauma, and her manner of death was homicide.

“At this point,” Michael Garrity, the director of communications, said, “the investigation into the events surrounding Ms. Kelsen’s death remains active and ongoing.”

Garrity said there was no known threat to the general public and additional information would be released “as it becomes available without impacting the integrity of the investigation.”
