Mirsky's List of the Strongest Candidates for President in 2028 - WILL IT BE JD versus AOC?

This is Attorney David Mirsky, your fellow longtime resident of the Town of Exeter, New Hampshire, known as a political activist, contrarian, defense attorney, and some might say quietly rude, with my list of the Strongest Candidates for President in 2028. We are in New Hampshire, location of the First-in-the-Nation Presidential Primary, so we start thinking about these things early on in the process.

I've been scouring the scene for some semblance of order amidst all the chaos, as we watch the National Republican Party in pitched revolt against every voter who ever trusted them, seeking to destroy Medicaid for All, happiness, and life as we know it (that's a joke, don't worry!), while ensuring that when President Donald Trump retires from the US Presidency at some point (January 2029?) he will have assured that no child in the GOP will be left without their own yacht, making sure their families grow toward a situation of never paying another dime of federal tax ever again. Many trusting voters believed the team of Trump and his intrepid Vice President J.D. Vance was the way to go in 2024, hoping for economic prosperity, better stock tips, and as much harsh reality to be delivered to the poor and unfortunate among us as the Republican Party could muster. And it looks like one thing is really happening now for sure, and let's say we don't all call it Big and Beautiful!

But I digress.

The way I've usually presented my List of the Strongest Candidates for President as seen from Exeter NH is this: I give you a list of prominent presidential contenders who are currently achieving the highest stature in American Electoral Politics. So that's what I'm planning to do here.

As we know all too well here in Exeter, a very active and focused community of enlightened people, Candidacy for President of the United States is the highest grade most ever achieve, and it is the time when these politicians are at their most popular, even if they win it all, as when the real work starts to get done after inauguration time, everyone in the country is seized with bitter pangs of regret and revulsion, wishing they had never heard of this person in the first place.

But let's put all that aside for now and take a brief look at the people who currently actually may be considered the strongest candidates for President in the land. So here goes.

DEMOCRATS

There are several individuals being put forward right now as having a good chance to win it all in 2028, but of course we have no idea what will actually happen at this early stage. These are the people I am focusing on right now as a self-appointed political reporter, at this juncture:

1. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (also known by her generation by her Twitter/X moniker "@AOC"), Member of the U.S House of Representatives from New York.

In my view, U.S. Rep. Ocasio-Cortez is by far the most qualified, most talented, brightest star on the horizon for the Democratic Party in 2028. She speaks the language of her own generation, tells it to you straight, like the old sportscaster from the 60's Howard Cosell (who used to say, "I tell it like it is.") AOC understands the plight of most American young people at this very moment in US history: They are broke; they can't afford to buy a home, they are lucky if they have a job, any job; they are disgusted with their elders; and they don't care about who is more or less experienced, or more or less qualified for the job of holding the Highest Office in the Land. They do not even care about that Office. This generation, which is currently coming of age in America, can see from the current occupant's antics that it can't get any worse, so why not choose a person they actually like? AOC is a person who actually knows them, knows what it's like to work for a living, to care about other people, to care about this Planet, to want to help humanity and improve society and make America a better, more humane place for all of us, and to make us a country that is beloved and not hated in the farthest reaches of the World.

Representative Ocasio-Cortez would bring with her to the White House job a deep commitment to making sure that everyone in the country has access to affordable, decent, effective health care. Nobody else is even close to being as committed to bringing that about as AOC. And she tells the truth. Try that, some of you running things in Concord NH right now. Try telling the truth. Try telling the lower income people of our great State why the poor and moderate income people among us should be subsidizing private school tuition for the richest families in the State. Tell us the Truth! There is no satisfactory explanation for that, and New Hampshire Republicans are not even trying to justify what they have done. That type of chicanery is also taking place on a national level in Washington, DC right at this very moment. Our President and his political Party are engaged in a complete revision of what it means to govern this country, and they are doing it RIGHT NOW, as they enact budgetary and tax policies that would provide the largest slice of the national economic pie in this Nation to those who are already too rich to even know what to spend their money on, gobs of money, more than most of us will ever see in our lives, and the people in charge right now are planning to give those people even more money, while depriving large numbers of poor people, especially those in rural areas, of any opportunity to have legitimate access to decent health care. Why are the Republicans doing this? I'll tell you why: Because they are greedy.

2. Governor Wes Moore of the Great State of Maryland. So there are a few other Presidential candidates you should consider if you intend to vote in the New Hampshire Primay as a Democrat. One of these people is Governor Wes Moore, and I know he says he is not running for President, believe me, they all say that. It's part of the prelims. Wes Moore is as elegant a political speaker as you will find anywhere right now, and he is credited by many with having made sure that that important bridge in the Baltimore area is repaired, usable, and that it will stay safe. Wes Moore is a military man, having served in the US Army in Afghanistan. He is being promoted forthrightly as a presidential candidate for 2028 by important people in the Democratic Party, most notably the popular actor George Clooney, who praises Wes Moore sincerely and intensely, indicating that this man would indeed have access to all the political money he needs to win. Also, check him out on YouTube, he's a very cool guy.

3. Governor Gavin Newsom of California. Gavin Newsom is a tough guy who can shout down any Republican in any debate and has done this every efficiently with regards to the recent shenanigans going on in Los Angeles, a beautiful gem of a city which has been placed under threat of invasion by our current US President, for being the victim of rabble rousing and disruptive conduct of many bad loud people (mixed in with the good), claiming to support the rights of US immigrants. The City of Los Angeles is a great city, they've got Mookie Betts on the Dodgers and a slew of brilliant and beautiful actors making all kinds of content for Netflix and the movie business, and that city has needed protection against a US President threatening to stop a few protestors by calling in the US Marines. Governor Newsom has taken a firm stand for the City of Los Angeles, the Great State of California, and for all of us, by confronting these abuses of power directly and powerfully. Governor Gavin Newsom, in my opinion, can be trusted to defeat any candidate or person engaged in the use of unfair or malicious tactics, he is a Strong Man himself, but a Democrat, and has demonstrated the ability to work hard and effectively to protect the rights and interests of all Californians, and, indeed, all Americans. That's my view.

REPUBLICANS

The top Republican candidate for US President in 2028 is our current US Vice President, J.D. Vance of Ohio. Mr. Vance is well ahead in all the polls I've seen, and I fully expect that he will receive his Party's nomination for President in 2028. Mr. Vance, you know him, you can watch him in action right now, he's always at the President's side doing important things. Mr. Vance is extremely bright, inspired even, and has managed to catapult himself to the top of Trump World (okay, nearly at the top), despite having previously compared his current boss in an unfavorable way to a very very bad person in World History. This guy J.D. Vance has something. Believe it. Regardless of who the Democrats choose to nominate, Election 2028 will be a real fight.

So that's all I have to say right now. I really do not give the other potential Republican candidates any chance of defeating J.D. Vance, because Republicans don't do that, they don't seek to destabilize the person who most effectively might allow them to retain power. Which is why Conservatives currently control the US Supreme Court. Think about it.
