How one new leader helped Girl Scouts flourish in Exeter (seacoastonline.com) — A new Exeter Girl Scout leader, Gemma Waite, has rapidly grown Troop 66019 at Exeter Public Library and helped spark additional troops in town. Her energetic recruiting and focus on positive, screen‑free friendships and cookie‑sale skills just earned her Volunteer of the Month honors from Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains.
   

2. Meet a U.S. startup trying to break China's rare-earth monopoly (seattletimes.com) — Right in an Exeter office park, a young startup called Phoenix Tailings is running a new rare-earth metal plant that feeds electric vehicle and defense supply chains. The piece explains how this facility fits into U.S. efforts to reduce reliance on China for rare earths, and how federal funding and market forces could shape its future in town.
   

3. NH Center for Photography opens annual exhibit in Exeter (seacoastonline.com) — An annual fine art photography exhibit is opening Jan. 3 at Exeter Town Hall Gallery, bringing nearly 100 works by 48 New Hampshire photographers right into the heart of town. Running weekends through Feb. 1, the show highlights everything from classic black‑and‑white prints to contemporary digital images, with many photographers on hand opening day to talk about their craft.
   

4. CACHE to host diverse group exhibition (ourvalleyvoice.com) — Exeter’s Center for Art, Culture, and History is inviting residents to a free exhibition, “Beneath the Surface,” showcasing abstract works by local artist Kristine Vogt alongside pieces from CACHE’s collection from January 24 to March 29. Visitors can explore her nature-inspired, meditative acrylic-and-water paintings, with an opening reception on Saturday, January 24, from 4:30 to 6:30 PM.
