Joe McCue, a certified wellness practitioner with over 12 years experience, has moved back to his childhood roots in the Seacoast area to start his newest venture to help people, American Wellness Solutions, LLC.

McCue, who graduated from UMass-Lowell with a degree in mechanical engineering, left that field to pursue wellness. This change came about when he received his first cancer diagnosis in early 1998.

McCue also received his master’s degree from DePaul University in Chicago where he focused on creating, implementing and promoting worksite wellness initiatives.

McCue is also a wellness educator, having spent the last several years teaching massage therapy and wellness promotion classes at three colleges in the Chicago area.

"Joe is a great teacher!" said Brian Rejman, one of McCue’s former students. "He gives you the chance to speak your mind and encourages you to do just that. He loves what he does and it shows in his work."

McCue plans to continue teaching massage therapy and has accepted a teaching position at Great BayCommunity College starting in January.

Additionally, McCue has been certified by the Upledger Institute, the global leader in CranioSacral Therapy training, to facilitate their ShareCare® workshop. This one day "hands-on" event is designed to empower participants to be more proactive in enhancing their own wellness, as well as that of their friends and family, by teaching them simple yet effective CranioSacral Therapy techniques.

McCue also consults with organizations; helping them create, implement or enhance worksite wellness programs for their employees. In this role, he helps them determine the best path forward in the design, roll-out and evaluation of customized wellness solutions.

Research has shown that well designed worksite wellness programs can generate better than a 3:1 return on investment and lead to not only healthier, more engaged employees, but also a healthier bottom line.

McCue’s primary professional mission is helping people live, work and feel better. Sometimes that means helping a woman reduce pain and discomfort resulting from her caesarian section scar tissue or helping a client with TMJ disorder reduce pain and headaches.

Sometimes it manifests as helping someone in midst of a major life transition figure out the next steps or perhaps teaching a parent how to safely and naturally reduce their child’s fever. It can also mean helping an organization create a culture of wellness for its stakeholders.
