EEE Found in North Hampton
Town will conduct mosquito spraying on Wednesday evening.

North Hampton town officials informed residents Friday afternoon that a batch of mosquitoes tested by state health officials has tested positive for EEE, known as Eastern Equine Enchephalitis.
"Common sense is your best defense against EEE. The fact that there are mosquitoes that tested positive for EEE in North Hampton means that you should take reasonable precautions until a killing frost occurs," wrote Town Administrator Paul Apple in a letter to town residents.
Apple also informed town residents that spraying would be conducted on Wednesday, Oct. 16.
"Spraying to control adult mosquitoes will take place at the School, Dearborn Park, and Knowles Field on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. People may not be present during spraying," Apple wrote.
He explained the insecticide CrossCheck Plus (bifenthrin 7.9%) will be used to control adult mosquitoes that backpack sprayers would be used.
He said no town wide road spraying is scheduled and that Dragon Mosquito Control, Inc. of Brentwood will be the applicator. He added that residents may call the 734-4144 for further information regarding spray dates, times, locations, insecticides, precautions, West Nile Virus, EEE and other concerns.
Apple also advised residents to stay indoors at dawn and dusk when mosquitoes are the most present and to wear long sleeve shirts and pants when outdoors. He said they can consult the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services web site for more information.
