The donation from Unitil and its employees aims to support the community as it heals from the mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine, in October.
HAMPTON, NH — A New England utility company and its employees have come together to donate $110,855 to help the victims of the Oct. 25 mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine.
The donation, which comes from the Hampton-based Until Corporation, went to the Lewiston-Auburn Area Response Fund, which was established by the Maine Community Foundation.
"The fund ensures that 100 percent of each donation is allocated to those affected, and to the organizations supporting the community as it heals from the tragic events that resulted in the deaths of 18 victims," the company wrote in a news release Monday.

O'Meara added that while he knows that the road to recovery will not be easy, he hopes the company's support "may provide at least some comfort to the victims, and to the community."
"The funds will be used to support victims’ families, the survivors, those who were present during the incidents and may have experienced trauma, and other nonprofit organizations addressing current and emerging needs of the community as the recovery process begins," according to the company.
