- Ride your bike with the wind — and help save the planet. Join in the fun and "see the sights from a different perspective" on The Manchester Bike Tour on Sept. 11. The Manchester Conservation Commission event brings the community together for a morning of recreation and a chance to bike along a 30-mile route (with an additional 10-mile option). See interesting sights around the city for a good cause. You can register for the event and find out more here; (Manchester Ink Link)
- The U.S. Post Office is hiring! The USPS has more than 100 positions open nationwide, with five immediate openings in Manchester, according to a local official. How do you search and apply? Here are a few tips: start by going to eCareer via www.usps.com/careers. Under "Before you apply" select "Create an Account" and the system will walk you through your Profile Roadmap. If you have registered or applied to the USPS before, "Log in To Your Account" and sign in with your username and password. (USPS)
- Are public trails safe? After a stabbing death on a popular walking trail, residents are frustrated with how the city is handling the growing homeless population. A 75-year-old man was stabbed to death walking on a trail in Manchester where residents said there are homeless camps. The great-grandfather was killed by a man who was out on bail and had no known address. Residents went to City Hall Tuesday night looking for answers. Manchester resident Ashley Poulin asked, “What are your plans? Do we have a winter shelter? How are we gonna get the needles off the ground? How are we gonna clean the parks and trails?" Poulin is also known in Manchester as the "Soup Lady" for serving food to the homeless until June, when local health officials said she couldn’t provide food without a permit.
