Here are the top stories today in Manchester:
- Vehicle owners and mechanics in New Hampshire are frustrated by a shortage of auto repair parts. The ongoing shortage from the pandemic and supply chain disruptions "is creating long wait times for repairs," mechanics said. John Lightbown, service manager for Toyota of Portsmouth, said there are delays on parts for everything from brakes and exhaust to tires. Alan Amici of the Center for Automotive Research said he has seen incremental improvements,"but I think we're going to still be having this discussion next summer." (WMUR)
- A man was charged for allegedly threatening a tow truck driver with a gun in north Manchester. On September 28, Manchester Police were called to Colonial Village on 100 West Clarke St. after a man allegedly "threatened a tow truck driver with a gun." The tow truck operator told officers when he was checking parked cars, to tow away any without stickers, a man sitting in a car opened his door, swore at the tow truck contractor, and pointed a gun at him. In the investigation, police arrested and charged Michael Kenney, 43, of Manchester. (Manchester Ink Link)
- If you are looking for work, the DOT is offering a generous signing bonus for snow plow drivers. The New Hampshire Department of Transportation incentives are being offered to fill positions from plow drivers to supervisors. State agencies said they "are struggling to fill positions as people retire," officials said. The DOT is offering a $5,000 signing bonus for anyone who joins winter maintenance this year. (WMUR)
