Here are the top stories in Manchester today:

  1. Did you know that there are 16 bumble bees native to New Hampshire? And three of the native bees are endangered? In an interview with WMUR's Ray Brewer of "Grow it Green," Mary Tebo Davis, of the UNH Cooperative Extension Program, said we can help support the native bumble bee population, which is essential for specific plants they pollinate that wildlife relies on, by planting the New Hampshire plants they need for pollen and nectar. A few good choices of native plants are butterfly weed, flowering raspberry, meadowsweet, and native Carolina and Virginia roses. You can find out more here: (WMUR)
  2. It's always time to laugh on Saturday night in the backroom pub at Murphy's Taproom. Saturday is comedy night at Murphy's, on 494 Elm St. in Manchester, where you will find a lineup of comedians. This Saturday, comedian Corey Manning will take the stage. Manning has performed at the Apollo Theatre in New York City, on Amazon Prime and made an appearance on NBC’s “Family Feud” with Steve Harvey. (Subscription/The Union Leader)
  3. Aldermen approved the sale of West side park land for $600,000 to advocates who plan to build a nonprofit community center on the land. The sale of the city park was controversial, abutting neighbors opposed the plan, and said it will "destroy a city park." Aldermen were assured that the community garden located at the site would remain, and most voted to support the center to benefit the West side community. (Manchester Ink Link)
