Here are the top stories today in Manchester:
- Tacos and a hot cup of coffee will be easier to find in the North End. Taco Bell and Aroma Joe’s are set to be built on an empty lot on Hooksett Road next to the North End Shops and Livingston Park in Manchester. Taco Bell will have indoor seating with a drive-thru, while Aroma Joe's offer drive-thru service. Linear Retail Properties, a Burlington, Massachusetts, developer, received variances by the city’s zoning board to build the two restaurants at the end of last year. (subscription/The Union Leader)
- Three of the "Top Ten Candy Shops" in WOKQ's top 10 list are in Manchester! The list of New Hampshire favorites is in no particular order. All of the candy crafters were favorites among voters, WOKQ said. Among the top candy shops, the three in Manchester are Van Otis Chocolates, with stores in Manchester and Wolfboro, now also offering creative dog biscuits; Dancing Lion Chocolate in Manchester, which is all about the artistry of chocolate; and The Granite State Candy Shoppe, which features "thin ribbon candy" for the holidays. (WOKQ)
- The Manchester School District is hosting a job fair and is also partnering with community organizations, including Manchester Parks and Recreation, Public Works, City Year, and the Boys & Girls Club. It's the first job fair for the school district, and they have many positions to fill. The job fair will be on Saturday, May 7 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Memorial High School and will offer full-time, part-time and seasonal jobs. (Manchester Ink Link)
