- Be on the lookout for scams and price gouging during the national baby formula shortage, said New Hampshire Attorney General John M. Formella in a recent post. He also warned New Hampshire businesses against "using unfair or deceptive acts when selling formula," and encouraged residents to notify his office if they see an unusually high spike in New Hampshire baby formula prices. You can reach the AG's office by phone at 1-888-468-4454 ·or email, DOJ-CPB@doj.nh.gov. (Manchester Information)
- In the same post, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) cautions families about ordering baby formula "from any untrusted or unfamiliar online sources." BBB officials said to thoroughly research any online retailers via the Better Business Bureau (BBB) website. (Manchester Information)
- On hot and humid days, like the unusually steamy May temperatures we had this weekend, it's important to think about ways to keep your pets safe when temperatures soar. Dr. Jay Volinski with Rockingham Emergency Veterinary Hospital advised pet owners to make sure their pets "have access to clean water, shade, and ideally, air conditioning." adding that older and younger animals that may not be able to breathe easily, like bulldogs, should be kept in the air conditioning! - If you're looking for a new job, now is a good time! Unemployment fell another 2.3 percent in New Hampshire last month, but employers say they don't have enough help for open positions. That's encouraging for a new group of job seekers decades apart in age. In 2020 and 2021, 71.4 percent of workers lost their jobs due to the pandemic, but job seekers today range from teens looking for summer jobs and first-time job applicants to experienced and retired workers looking for new opportunities. While waiting for his luggage to arrive on the baggage carousel at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, Glenn Mathews inquired about post-retirement part-time work. “It baffles me that employers can’t find help,” Mathews said. “I’m a worker, so I don’t think it will be very hard to find a job.” (Subscription/ The Union Leader)
