Here are the top stories today in Manchester:

  1. A controversial new gas station on Edward J. Roy Drive in Manchester is under construction. The long-opposed gas station started construction after a building permit was issued last month. Lawyers of the developer asked that Alderman-at-Large Joe Kelly Levasseur and Ward 6 Alderman Elizabeth Moreau "disqualify themselves" because they followed a 2017 Facebook page, called “Wellington Hill Area Residents” that opposed the project. Hours at the new gas station will be limited from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. (Subscription/The Union Leader )
  2. Filmmakers and film lovers are arriving for the 20th Anniversary New Hampshire Film Festival in Portsmouth this weekend. The festival features more than 100 films at six venues, with "director Q&As, special events, celebrity guests and industry parties." The event runs from Oct. 6 through Oct. 9. You can find out more here: (The Music Hall)
  3. Happy leaf-peeping, New Hampshire. Over the next two weeks, New Hampshire will be treated to a vibrant display of peak fall foliage. If you want to plan where to see peak foliage, check out the Visit NH foliage tracker. You may find bright yellow, red and orange leaves right outside your window!

Patch deal of the day:

Wine lover alert. We found this amazing deal from Splash Wines — an 18-bottle curated selection of reds and whites for fall — for just $69.99. Shipping isn't cheap at $39.95, but that still comes out to just over $6 per bottle. Splash Wines has a money-back guarantee if you don't like the wine and 4.6 out of 5 rating on TrustPilot. So: recommended.
