- Bored Teachers Comedy Tour - The Rex Theatre (8:00 PM)
From my notebook:
- A shout out to New Hampshire’s ‘Kid Conservationist’ and 11-year-old Manchester author Jack Dalton, who made it his mission to help get orangutans off the endangered species list. Jack wrote a children's book, Kawan the Orangutan: Lost in the Rainforest, and plans to donate 500 of his books to schools to educate others about this remarkable species and threats to their habitat in Southeast Asia. Jack said his love for orangutans started after a family trip to the Memphis Zoo where he saw a baby orangutan and learned about the deforestation from palm oil harvesting. He contacted big companies that use Palm oil to let them know about the impact, and joined the cause. You can read the full story here: (Manchester Ink Link)
- Restaurant Week has returned to the Seacoast this week after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic. Almost a dozen Portsmouth restaurants are participating, offering fixed-price, three-course meals, with options for each course. Restaurant Week in Portsmouth runs through Saturday, April 30. Reservations are strongly recommended on Goportsmouth.com. Even though restaurants now have to pay for outside public space, Kevin Dwyer, owner of Dwyer's Pub, said "it's worth it." (WMUR)
- Help clean up Manchester parks and ponds. Invite neighbors and friends to participate in the Manchester Urban Ponds Restoration park and pond cleanup days on Saturday, April 30 from 9 - 11 a.m. at Stevens Pond/Stevens Pond Park (Bridge Street Extension, meet at kiosk at boat ramp), and on Saturday, May 7, from 9 – 11 a.m. at Nutts Pond/ Precourt Park (on Driving Park Road, meet at the kiosk). The events will take place rain or shine. Manchester Urban Ponds Restoration has organized 122 pond and park clean-ups over the past 22 years, with 1111 volunteers spending approximately 3,663 hours collecting 2,501 bags of trash, saving over $84,000, they said on their website.
