Here are the top stories in Manchester today:
- A man from Manchester was arrested for allegedly firing a bullet through his apartment floor to the unit below. Police were sent to Boutwell Street on Friday around 1 p.m. to investigate the shooting report "from earlier in the day." The victim told police he heard a loud noise a few hours earlier, "and thought someone had thrown a rock against his apartment window." He later found plaster on the floor and a bullet nearby. Merlin Umana, 25, of Manchester, who was in the apartment directly above the victim, was arrested Tuesday and charged with reckless conduct and falsifying physical evidence for removing the gun from the property. Both are felonies. (Patch)
- Flights from Orlando arrived at the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport ahead of Hurricane Ian Tuesday. Some passengers said they'd already planned a trip to New England, while others flew to New Hampshire to evacuate before the hurricane arrived. The Orlando International Airport planned to shut down the airport Wednesday morning. While many people came to New Hampshire to avoid the storm, some New Hampshire volunteers were flying south to help the Red Cross prepare for the storm. (WMUR)
- Have you dropped off a holiday card at City Hall for the "Holiday Cards for Our Military Challenge?" The 2022 deadline to create or buy a holiday card for someone in the military is Nov. 18. Drop off completed cards at the office of Mayor Joyce Craig, located on the 3rd floor of City Hall at 1 City Hall Plaza in Manchester. Cards submitted after that date will be used for later mailings.
