  1. A shout out to Manchester's Max Clayton who will perform the lead role of Professor Harold Hill in "The Music Man" on Broadway. Clayton made his New York City debut Tuesday night, and is filling in for Oscar nominee Hugh Jackman who tested positive for COVID-19 twice. On Facebook, The Palace Theatre congratulated Clayton for his Broadway performance noting that he was part of the theatre’s youth program while growing up in Manchester. Bravo! (WMUR)
  2. When news broke that New Hampshire's first native plant may be declared officially extinct by scientists over the next few days, botanist William Nichols, said we need to be better stewards. Nichols, who works with the state Natural Heritage Bureau, said, “This would be the first plant extinction in New Hampshire.” He noted that if we are better stewards, having another native plant or animal becoming extinct, "could be avoided." 3. Rescue crews tried to save a Massachusetts man hiking the New Hampshire's Presidential Mountain Range on Saturday. Despite their heroic efforts, Xi Chen, a 53-year-old man from Andover, died of hypothermia. Fish and Game rescuers found Chen on a trail near Mount Clay Saturday night "in freezing temperatures and snow," around 10:38 p.m. Chen sent a text message to his wife earlier saying he thought he would die if he didn't get help. Rescuers found him unresponsive and carried him about a mile to the summit of Mount Washington against 80 mph winds. They brought him to an ambiance but were not able to save him. 4. Where will you find July 4 fireworks in New Hampshire? WMUR has a list of communities having fireworks for the 4th of July by community name, place, and time. Some places, like Manchester, have a rain date! You can find out more here: (WMUR)
