Here are the top stories in Manchester today:

  1. Are you ready to celebrate Memorial Day? On Monday, a Memorial Day Ceremony will be held in honor of veterans at the Manchester V.A. Medical Center, rain or shine, on 718 Smyth Road at 10:30 a.m. Use the Eagle Entrance (the main entrance by the flags). Then stop by Manchester's Memorial Day Parade on Monday at 2 p.m. The parade route starts on Elm Street at Webster Street and continues on Elm Street to Veterans Memorial Park. Stay for the ceremony immediately following the parade to honor veterans in Veterans Park. A shout out to the Manchester Veterans’ Council for hosting and presenting the parade this year. 2. Manchester's wildflower project promises to add a splash of vibrant colors and more natural beauty to the City's West Side, thanks to a project called We Heart West, an organization working to spruce up the City’s West Side. The nonprofit applied for and received a grant from the City of Manchester to purchase the 4,800 wildflower seeds arriving in West Side mailboxes this weekend. Residents are encouraged to plant the seeds in their neighborhoods. "It’s all about a splash of color and community spirit," says Brittany Ping of the West Side Wildflowers Project. Residents who receive seed packages are encouraged to add their planting locations to a map on the website: weheartwest.org/wildflowers. 3. Let's run — or walk — for a good cause! Meals on Wheels of Hillsborough County is having its 3rd Annual Step-Up 5K Run-Walk Saturday, May 28, at 9:30 a.m. The Run-Walk will take place at the picturesque trails of Mine Falls Park in Nashua. The 3K walk-run event draws runners and walkers from Manchester, Nashua, and other Hillsborough County communities. A virtual race is also available for anyone who wants to run at their own place and time. The virtual race must be completed between May 21 and May 28. (Burbio)
