  1. A million-dollar winner of the billion-dollar Mega Million Lottery drawing Friday was sold in New Hampshire. A customer at Market Basket on South Broadway in Salem purchased the lucky ticket. The New Hampshire million-dollar ticket matched the first five numbers of the drawing. There was also a $20,000 winning ticket purchased at a Circle K in Tilton, and a 40,00 dollar ticket that a lucky person purchased at Shaw's in Hampton. (WMUR)
  2. The fish you buy at your favorite Manchester restaurant or local market may be controlled by foreign billionaires. A report published July 6 that looked into the East Coast fishing industry discovered that wealthy foreign investors control "a sizable share" of the East Coast fishing industry, creating long work hours and elbowing-out independent fishermen. The report, published by ProPublica and The New Bedford Light, said that foreign investors control East Coast pollock, haddock and ocean perch, and are "pushing to expand into other parts of the industry." In a statement, Sen. Richard Blumenthal called the report "alarming" and said it "raises serious concerns" about "possible violations of federal law" which should be reviewed by the Justice Department. 3. Did you notice a comet blazing through the night sky? It may be from one of two meteor showers that put on a glimmering show this weekend. The Delta Aquariids meteor shower peaked on Friday, according to EarthSky, but meteors can still be seen trailing through the night sky. The Delta Aquariids meteors can be seen best by people in the Southern Hemisphere, with the best view on a moon-free night, according to NASA. The Alpha Capricornids meteor shower follows, with peak viewing here on Saturday and Sunday nights, "when the moon was only 5% full," according to the American Meteor Society. Meteor showers can be seen when particles from comet trails pass close enough to enter the earth's atmosphere. (WMUR)
