Here are the top stories in Manchester today:

  1. Hundreds of Granite Staters turned out at the Londonderry Town Common to support Ukraine on Saturday. People from Manchester and around the state went to Londonderry for the Ukrainian Cultural Fair. Vendors sold Ukrainian food and other items, but event organizers said borscht was the most popular while Ukrainian crepes were not far behind. Money raised at the Ukrainian cultural event will go to medical and humanitarian supplies for the embattled nation. There was no traditional Ukrainian dancing. It will have to wait until peace is restored in Ukraine, said Lena Neruk, of Londonderry. You can read the full story here: (WMUR)
  2. An illegal Manchester junkyard that has been an eyesore for years has been sold to a developer that will clear the lot — something that neighbors will be happy to hear. Evan Silverio of Diverse Real Estate Inc. of Lawrence, Massachusetts, paid $350,000 for the property, according to transaction records. Silverio may build new apartments on the West Side property, that was formerly the home to tires, boats, heavy machinery, and sometimes homeless people would sleep in abandoned cars for decades. City resident Matthew Skwozinski, who owned the lot, passed away in 2019. (subscription / The Union Leader)
  3. A new brewhouse restaurant may be coming to the Mall of New Hampshire. BJ’s Restaurants and Brewhouse, headquartered in Huntington Beach, California, hopes to open a new stand-alone restaurant at the mall — its first New Hampshire eatery. The Brewhouse is known for slow-roasted entrees, deep dish pizza, and craft beer from independent third-party craft brewers, according to its website. The restaurant plans to build in the parking lot near the former Sears store that is now Dave & Buster’s and Dick’s Sporting Goods. (subscription / The Union Leader)
