Here are the top stories today in Manchester:
- Granite Stater's in Florida recalled what it was like to survive the fury of Hurricane Ian. When Fort Meyers experienced a direct hit by Ian Wednesday. an Engineer for the Fort Meyers fire department, who is from New Hampshire, said he spent 48 hours "making sure people who were trapped are now okay." He said he has lived in Fort Meyers for 22 years, but this hurricane had 150 mph winds, adding, "This is the worst one I've seen." (WMUR)
- With soaring electric bills and generous Federal subsidies, New Hampshire residents and businesses are eager to install solar panels, but some customers are frustrated with delays connecting to the power grid. Eversource acknowledged that solar panel customers are temporarily seeing "painful delays" in having their solar projects turned on due to a backlog of applications. Dan Weeks, vice president and co-owner of ReVision Energy said they installed 1,000 solar panels in August, and have even more in September, adding they "have never seen this much demand.” Evans-Brown from Clean Energy NH noted if delays continue, lawmakers may need to act to protect consumers. - It's a "New York State of Mind" this weekend at the Palace Theater. Uptown Boys Live will take the stage, performing a Broadway-style music review of Billy Joel's hit songs on Oct. 8 and Oc. 9. The New York City-inspired show has Bruno Mars-inspired choreography "and the swagger of Broadway hits like Jersey Boys and Million Dollar Quartet."
