  1. Warning sirens from Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant caused a scare on Tuesday, as residents and visitors evacuated Hampton, Rye, and Seabrook beaches, and questions linger about exactly what happened. At around 11:15 a.m., Hampton police announced on Twitter that the siren was a false alarm, saying the messages to evacuate were not accurate, and there was no threat to the public. People within 10 miles of the plant were told via the emergency alert system to "leave the beach, close all doors and windows, and tune into a local radio station for more information." The New Hampshire Department of Safety said it didn't learn right away that the alert was false. The nuclear plant, owned by NextEra Energy, has been active since the 1990s, and is expected to operate at least through 2030, "with a 20-year extension after that." (Patch)
  2. The Stark Park summer concert series is in full swing! If you missed the high-energy, blues-rock performance of The Love Dogs, you can still get into the swing of things for the next free concert this weekend! The Tom Nutile Big Band will be playing at the bandstand in Stark Park on Sunday, July 17 from 2-4 p.m. The band plays everything from "modern pop tunes, soul and funk, Latin, jump, lindy, modern jazz, waltzes and, yes, even polkas." On the Stark Park website, the band said they have played outdoor concerts in more than 30 communities in New England. You can see the full calendar for Stark Park performances here: (Stark Park Concerts)
  3. On July 20, the Kohl’s store at 81 South River Road in Bedford will be celebrating the grand opening of Sephora at Kohl’s. The new 2,500-square-foot beauty area will have the same look and feel of the larger, freestanding Sephora stores. Trained beauty advisors will be on hand with samples of products for the kick-off. Bedford Kohl's is the closest Kohl's store to Manchester. There is also a Kohl's store in Nashua. (Sephora)
