- Manchester police warn residents to be aware of a new phone scam by a caller pretending to be from the police department. The caller pretends to be a member of the police force and is soliciting money by telling residents there are "warrants out for their arrest and need to pay cash bail," said Manchester Police Public Information Officer Heather Hamel in a statement. “The call is a scam," she warned. “Again, no one at the Manchester Police Department is making these calls,” Hamel said. "Residents are asked to call the police department at 603-668-8711 if they receive a call like this, or feel they have been the victim of a scam." (Subscription/The Union Leader)
- Do you want to "earn while you learn?" Medical apprentices in nursing tech and support roles have already completed nearly 7,000 hours of instruction at the Elliot Hospital and Catholic Medical Center. The “earn while you learn” program offers paid positions in the medical field while participating in classroom learning and on-the-job training. These needed workers are receiving paid “job-ready” training, and will be ready to immediately fill in-demand positions when they complete the program. (Subscription/Manchester Ink Link)
- Old brick mill buildings just off of Elm Street in Manchester are being torn down to clear the way for new apartments. Construction crews are tearing down old brick industrial buildings just off Elm Street to make room for nearly 250 new apartments. The apartments, being developed by Boston-based Jones Street Investment Partners, will be a four-story building diagonally across the street from the SNHU Arena and behind Murphy’s Taproom. The new apartment will have: "a fitness center, club room, co-working space, pet spa, bike racks, two outdoor courtyards featuring fire pits, a bocce court and a roof deck with views of the Merrimack River." Groundbreaking is expected in November. (Subscription/The Union Leader)
