Here are the top stories today in Manchester:
- Check out what's happening on the Second Saturday downtown! On Saturday, May 14, Manchester shops, cafes, and stores will be offering something special for customers. The idea was sparked by the tremendously successful (and amazingly fun) Taco Tour. Leslie Boswak, owner of Lilac & Finch on Elm Street, is rallying fellow business owners to "make Second Saturday a thing." Stop by her shop and see what she is offering! A sample of other business Second Saturday happenings: Terracotta Room will be celebrating the Second Saturday with a pop-up artisan friend called The Studio On Fern with custom gifts and will also have doughnuts from Bird Food Baking Company. Barre Life will be hosting a clothing pop-up shop with Flagship East Coast with raffles and giveaways — just to name a few. Time for a stroll on Elm Street! - Look up in the night sky on Sunday night around 10:27 p.m.. to catch a spectacular lunar eclipse. The eclipse will be visible to most of the United States. At one point, the earth's shadow will completely darken the moon's surface. When the amount of light reaching the moon lessens, the moon will appear to change colors from gray and pink to orange to red — also called a "blood moon." This is a "super" moon event, when the moon is closest to the earth, so will look much larger. Unlike a solar eclipse, you can look directly at a lunar eclipse, according to NASA. (WMUR)
- Spring is a happy time —even for New Hampshire deer. While tulips are colorfully popping up around the city, crab apple trees are bursting with white blossom, and lilacs are starting to bloom, a video posted by WMUR, spied two playful young deer, who emerged from nearby woods early in the morning, skipping through Manchester. You can see the video here: (WMUR)
