Here are the top stories in Manchester today:

  1. If you are wondering what Adam Sandler and Sarah Silverman have in common, the famous comedians are both from New Hampshire. Adam Sandler was born in Brooklyn, N. Y., but moved to Manchester when he was 6 years old, and Sarah Silverman was born in Bedford. The two biggest names in Hollywood have more than just a New Hampshire connection — Adam Sandler and Sarah Silverman were also both on Saturday Night Live! 2. A shout out to 63 Manchester teachers who retired this year! The educators, with 1,557 years of combined experience, were honored on Monday by the Manchester Board of School Committee, Mayor Joyce Craig, and other education officials. "We’re always so happy for our retirees, but we’re so sad to lose their experience,” said Manchester School District Assistant Superintendent Amy Allen, adding that teachers "have touched countless lives" and leave the school district "better than they found it." 3. A band called "The Youngsters" reunited to play their first show at The Rex Theater June 16 to support 10,000 Candles for New Hampshire. 10,000 Candles raises awareness for "suffering caused by isolation," and to remember loved ones who struggled with mental health. The Youngsters was started in 1980 by friends who were all freshmen from West High School in Manchester. For the past four decades, they have met annually to play music to bring people together with "a language we all share" even though they live on separate coasts. (Manchester Ink Link)
