Here are the top stories today in Manchester:

  1. What are you doing for Cinco De Mayo? Join the Manchester Taco Tour. The popular Taco event will bring thousands of “taco tourists” downtown on Thursday, May 5 from 4- 8 p.m. More than 60 participating restaurants are participating. Organizers said you may want to arrive early and eat fast. The goal is to "eat as many $3 tacos as you can," and vote for the "Best Taco." The winner will receive a trophy and $1,000 for a charity of their choice. (Manchester Ink Link)
  2. BAE Systems has big news. The new facility in Manchester is ready after three years of renovations, and the defense contractor is planning to hire 800 engineers. The Manchester location will develop electromagnetic warfare technology. Building renovations included office space, engineering labs, a 200-seat auditorium, a cafeteria and a wellness center. U.S. Sen. Maggie Hassan said the new BAE facility is "important for Manchester and the state," and is also "vital for the world at large." You can read the full story here: (WMUR)
  3. The Manchester Planning Board opted to continue the public hearing for a proposed Wellington Heights housing development on Thursday. The planned development would build 305 units on 81 lots between Radburn Way and Smyth Road. If approved, the new development would connect Wellington Road with Smyth Road through Edward J. Roy Drive. Some residents of Smyth Road and nearby streets have concerns about the impact on property values and that the new road would be a cut-through between Smyth Road and Wellington Road.
