- A shout out to long-time WMUR anchor Tom Griffith, who is retiring this week! Former WMUR anchor Carol MacKenzie congratulated Tom Griffith for 45 years in broadcasting with a special message: "I understand you're leaving broadcasting after 40 years to pursue your dream of being a TikTok influencer!" She added, "I think it's awesome that you're trying something new at your age. Seriously, congratulations. You've enjoyed a really long career in a really tough business. I wish you all the best in your retirement." You can read the full story here: (WMUR)
- Congressman Chris Pappas introduced The Clean Water Standards for PFAS Act bill earlier this month "to set water quality criteria" and "support communities" with PFAS contaminated water, according to a letter published in the Concord Monitor. The bill introduced by Pappas would benefit communities like Bedford, Merrimack, and others with water supplies or wells that have been permanently contaminated with high levels of PFAS chemicals. The Clean Water Standards for PFAS Act would regulate these "forever" chemicals under the Clean Water Act to "prevent manufacturers" and "other polluters" from counting to contaminate our nation’s waterways. - What are the best vegetable plants for balconies and pots? A lot of people may not have space for a garden, so WMUR's Ray Brewer of Grow It Green spoke with Leah Devriendt of Devriendt Farms in Goffstown to find out. She said tomatoes are "the number one container vegetable." The mistake most people make, she said, is using "too small a pot." Tomatoes are "deep-rooted plants" and need a bucket with holes, and tomatoes bred for containers are best, she noted. See the full story/video here: (WMUR)
- It's National Free Doughnut Day! Hot off the press... Dunkin’Dunkin’ will be offering a free doughnut with a beverage purchase, according to the Dunkin' Instagram. Participating Dunkin’ locations are offering a free doughnut on Friday, June 3, while supplies last. If they're sold out when you go — you may be able to get a free doughnut coupon for another time.
