  1. A shout-out to Brian Hansen of the Worker Bee Fund to help disabled veterans. The Worker Bee Fund helps veterans with home repairs that enable them to stay in their homes as they get older. Hansen is a structural designer who "identified a need in the Manchester community" and used his skills and expertise to create the Worker Bee Fund, "which has completed almost 35 projects to date." To help fund their worthwhile projects, they are holding a Brewfest on Oct. 15 at Mountain Base Brewery in Goffstown, Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. (Manchester Ink Link)
  2. Two recent reports say New Hampshire is struggling to provide affordable housing. The affordability index, which measures how affordable it is to buy a home in the state, sank to "an all-time low in September." As recently as two years ago, in 2020, the affordability index was over 100, meaning that residents in many areas "had more than enough income to qualify for a median priced home." What that means for Manchester is that home prices will need to come down and incomes rise in order for residents to be able to comfortably afford a home or condo. (New Hampshire Business Review)
  3. The Manchester Lion's Club invites everyone to a free spaghetti dinner! The event will be held on Friday, Oct. 14, at the Jutras Post Hall on 56 Boutwell St. in Manchester. This is a family-friendly event, and all Manchester residents are welcome. (Manchester Ink Link)
