  1. Seventy-five years after The Flying Yankee carried its last passengers, a new group is hoping to restore the train. A new Nashua nonprofit, The Flying Yankee Association said want to "get the train’s restoration back on track after another effort was derailed." The Flying Yankee, originally owned by the Boston & Maine Railroad, started service in April, 1935. The diesel-electric passenger train travelled through Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine until May 7, 1957. FYA chairman, Brian LaPlant, said The Flying Yankee is rare and unique. “There are only two others that are like it." He added, "This is the only one that operated in New England." 2. The school year is in full swing, but some New Hampshire school districts can't find teachers for open positions. State lawmakers are trying to help. On Wednesday, the House Education Committee considered a bill to increase pay to attract teachers to science, math, technical education and special education. The state is also considering a policy that would allow schools to bring retired teachers back into the classroom full-time. School districts also have support positions to fill, including paraprofessionals and crossing guards. (WMUR)
  3. You can see free "Art After Work" and listen to live music Thursday nights at the Currier Museum. Enjoy free live music performances in the Winter Garden Café of the Currier Museum and free admission to the museum gallery every Thursday from 5-8 p.m. On Sept 22, Americana musicians Joey Clark and Mac Holmes will be performing in the Winter Garden Café. The Café also offer weekly signature cocktails and delicious food. Find out more here: (Manchester Patch)
