Update: The situation was brought under control at 5:00 p.m. Police said the area has been rendered safe and 7-eleven has reopened
MERRIMACK, NH — Merrimack police, Fire, and EMS responded to Maple Ridge, a multi-unit building on D.W. Highway, for a call that involved a possible gunshot wound Tuesday afternoon.
Fire and EMS were asked to stay away from the scene until police could make entry into the address. Police requested a drone unit from Londonderry police to respond to the scene and then requested the Southern NH Special Operations Team. This team comprises officers from several cities and towns across southern New Hampshire.
The entrance to the complex was shut down by police, residents arriving home were directed to park across the street, and the 7-Eleven adjacent to the complex was shut down temporarily.

Several people from the complex were asked to evacuate across the street, and residents inside were asked to shelter in place.
Merrimack Police Chief Brian Levesque said the situation is contained to one building. Inaccurate social media rumors indicated an active shooter, and others said 7-eleven was robbed.
