Update (7:34 a.m.): A two-alarm fire at 106 Wire Road destroyed a large recreation vehicle (RV) and forced the evacuation of two homes Friday morning.
The blaze, which brought mutual aid from nearby towns such as Bedford and Amherst, was first reported just after 6 a.m. Monday morning.
There were no occupants in the RV at the time of the call and no injuries reported, said Merrimack Fire Chief Michael Currier, though four people were evacuated from the house on the property the RV was parked.
Occupants in the house to the immediate right of the property were also asked to leave their home as a precaution, said Currier.
A nearby pickup truck also suffered extensive damage, but there was no evident damage to the house on the property.
Traffic is still closed on Wire Road, from the Bedford Road intersection to Catskill Drive. Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes on Bedford Road and Joppa Road.
