Merrimack Police: Man Harassed Resident For A Year

Merrimack police said Richard Porter, of Massachusetts, sent unwanted letters to a resident over the course of a year.

MERRIMACK, NH -- A Massachusetts man was recently arrested and accused of harassing a Merrimack resident for a year during an unwanted letter-writing campaign. Richard Porter, 58, of Woburn, was charged with harassment.

Merrimack Police Sgt. Christopher Spillane said the victim reported Porter sent six letter's to the victim's address from June 2017 to June 2018.

"These letters served no legitimate purpose other than to annoy or alarm the victim," Spillane said in a statement.

Porter was arrested on a warrant Oct. 19. He was released on bond pending an arraignment Oct. 25 in Merrimack District Court.
