Merrimack's Highest Salaries - Town Manager Tops The List
Merrimack Town Manager Eileen Cabanel tops the list as the town's highest paid municipal employee. Check out the other top earners here.
MERRIMACK, NH — The following lists name the five Merrimack town employees with the highest salaries for the current fiscal year (2018-2019) and the next fiscal year (2019-2020). All of the listed employees are non-union members, according to Town Manager Eileen Cabanel. As part of the budget approved last month, they will receive 3-percent raises in the next fiscal year, which begins July 1. Separate salary increases for union employees, as part of collective bargaining agreements, have also been approved by voters April 9.
Fiscal Year 2018-2019 (current):
- Town Manager Eileen Cabanel, $143,312 per year — Cabanel has been a Merrimack town manager for the past eight years. She said throughout the year, she spends much of her time on personnel matters and budgets. This past year a lot of her focus went toward negotiating and finalizing five collective bargaining agreements, all of which were approved by voters last month. Before coming to Merrimack, Cabanel served a decade as a city manager for Laconia.
- Finance Director/Assistant Town Manager Paul Micali, $112,008 per year — As finance director, Micali is responsible for audit work, maintaining accounts, preparing financial reports, negotiating loans, and supervising financial records. He also helps with union negotiations. In 2014, he temporarily filled in for Cabanel while she was on medical leave.
- Police Chief Denise Roy, $107,660 per year — Roy has served in Merrimack since January of 1994 and was promoted to chief in the fall of 2017.
- Fire Chief Michael Currier, $107,484 per year — Having joined the Merrimack Fire Department in 1984, Currier has served as fire chief since 2007.
- Director of Public Works Kyle Fox, $106,964 per year — Fox has worked in Merrimack public works since 2006, becoming director in spring 2016. Previously, he was a contract administrator for New Hampshire Department of Transportation Bureau of Construction.
Fiscal Year 2019-2020 (effective July 1):
- Town Manager Eileen Cabanel, $147,611 per year
- Finance Director/Assistant Town Manager Paul Micali, $115,368 per year
- Police Chief Denise Roy, $110,889 per year
- Fire Chief Michael Currier, $110,708 per year
- Director of Public Works Kyle Fox, $110,172 per year
