Water Leak Detection Has Started In Merrimack
For the next three weeks, residents may expect a water specialist to go near their homes as he checks for water main leaks.
MERRIMACK, NH — For the next three weeks, residents might notice a black Dodge Ram patrolling areas near their homes. This is because the Merrimack Village District is conducting a water leak detection survey. Randy Troupe of New England Water Distribution Services, LLC, might be seen near or on residents' properties as he conducts the survey. He will be able to provide identification upon request, according to Merrimack Village District officials.
The survey, which started Thursday, comes from a Leak Detection Survey Grant from New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services. It provides Merrimack with water leak detection services at no cost to the town, according to officials from the Merrimack Village District. The surveys are being done to discover any leaks in the system's water mains, hydrants, valves and service lines.
"Proactive leak detection and repair can reduce a water system's pumping and treatment costs, provide an opportunity to better manage and prioritize system projects, and protect water supply quality and quantity," according to a statement from the Merrimack Village District.
