Sports have a way of teaching invaluable life lessons — building character, fostering teamwork and strengthening the bonds within a community. In the Milford area, these values have shaped some truly remarkable athletes from different eras, whose accomplishments continue to inspire.
Patch has teamed up with T-Mobile to spotlight five standout athletes whose achievements have left a lasting mark on our community. While this list is just a snapshot, there are countless others who have helped shape the rich sports culture in our area.
1. Morgan Andrews (Soccer)
Morgan Andrews, a standout soccer player from Milford, has made a significant impact both at the collegiate and professional levels. She was a highly decorated player during her time at Milford High School and continued her soccer journey at the University of Southern California (USC), where she earned All-American honors. Andrews played professionally for the Boston Breakers in the National Women’s Soccer League, further solidifying her status as one of the top talents in women’s soccer.

2. Ted Arcidi (WWF Wrestling)
Ted Arcidi, a former WWF wrestler, is a well-known figure in Milford who made his mark in professional wrestling during the 1980s. Arcidi's imposing size and strength helped him gain recognition in the World Wrestling Federation, where he competed against some of the most famous names in wrestling history. After retiring from wrestling, Arcidi moved to New Hampshire, where his commitment to preserving local heritage has been evident in his conservation efforts, notably saving 125 acres of farmland in Milford.
3. Renee Wilson (Track and Field)
Renee Wilson, a track and field athlete from Milford, has built a successful career as a collegiate athlete and competitor. Wilson is a key member of the Merrimack College women’s track and field team, where she has showcased her expertise in various sprinting and long jump events. 4. Michael Boucher (Football)
Michael Boucher, a Milford native, has earned recognition as a strong collegiate football athlete. At Saint Anselm College, Boucher's leadership and work ethic were integral to the team’s success. His commitment to the sport, coupled with his academic achievements, led to his selection for the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame Hampshire Honor Society, which recognizes college football players for excellence both on the field and in the classroom.
5. Erland van Lidth de Jeude (Wrestling)
Erland van Lidth de Jeude, born in the Netherlands but raised in Milford, was an extraordinary athlete who excelled in both wrestling and opera. As a wrestler, he was a formidable competitor who earned a spot on the 1976 U.S. Olympic team. Van Lidth de Jeude also pursued a career as a bass-baritone singer, achieving success in both fields. Known for his intense athleticism and artistic talents, he became a symbol of dedication and versatility. His contributions to both sports and the arts made him an iconic figure, and his legacy continues to be celebrated in Milford.
