BOOTHS FOR PUMPKIN FESTIVAL: Notice to artisans and crafters interested in having a booth at the Pumpkin Festival: Booths are sold out in the Town Hall auditorium, but the banquet hall will be opened up for booths if there is enough interest. Outdoor booths are still available in Emerson Park. Call Tracy at 249-0676 or email director@milfordimprovementteam.org for an application. The festival will run from Oct. 11 to Oct. 13.

THIS DAY IN HISTORY: On this day in 1774, in response to the British Parliament's enactment of the Coercive Acts in the American colonies, the first session of the Continental Congress convenes at Carpenter's Hall in Philadelphia. Fifty-six delegates from all of the colonies exceptGeorgia drafted a declaration of rights and grievances and elected Virginian Peyton Randolph as the first president of Congress. Patrick Henry, George Washington, John Adams and John Jay were among the delegates.
