This Fall, NCC's Transportation Technologies Department acquired a new Car-O-Liner Frame Straightening & Measuring Machine for the Collision Repair Technology program.
“We’ve been trying to get this for a little over a year, the other frame machine was 24-years-old; it was a time for an update,” said Professor Karl Wunderlich, chairperson of Transportation Technologies.
The equipment arrived this fall. “Many of our industry partners use the Car-O-Liner in their shops. This will allow students to learn on equipment they will likely see once they are working full time in the industry,” said Wunderlich.
Collision Repair Technology students received training on this state-of-the-art equipment from Andy Federline, President of New England Collision Equipment, of Mansfield, Mass. Federline said the new equipment is actually required by many Collision Centers for performing structural repairs on damaged vehicle frames to ensure safety, accuracy, and compliance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards.
As a Swedish company, Car-O-Liner is also used internationally as well as in the U.S. NCC President James Keane visited students in the lab this week as they practiced operating the Car-O-Liner equipment.
“At Nashua Community College, we are incredibly proud of our Collision Repair Program and the high standard it sets in preparing students for success in a rapidly evolving industry. With the recent installation of the Car-O-Liner system, our students are now able to train using benchmark frame-straightening and measurement technology found in leading collision repair shops nationwide. Having access to state-of-the-art tools, alongside hands-on instruction in our heated spray booths, computerized measuring systems, structural and refinishing labs, ensures that our graduates don’t just meet industry expectations but they exceed them,” said President Keane.
“By investing in equipment and technology, we reaffirm our commitment to giving students the experience, confidence, and skill set they need to enter the workforce ready on day one,” said Keane.
