$2.1B Increase For Nashua Property Values

Nashua property values rose to $10.3 billion in 2018 -- a 26 percent increase over 2017.

NASHUA, NH -- The value of all properties in Nashua rose $2.1 billion this year after a revaluation. Citywide values rose to $10.3 billion this year from $8.2 billion in 2017, according to data from city officials this month. The hike represented a 26 percent increase.

Some taxpayers will see increases in their tax bills, while others will be relatively flat compared to last year. The impact of the higher valuation was softened by the new tax rate, which is $21.21 per thousand dollars of property value. The rate is 17.8 percent lower than last year. Based on the 2018 rate, the owner of a $200,000 home will owe $4,242 in taxes.

"In preparing for the impact of the Revaluation on taxpayers, the FY2019 budget proposed by Mayor Jim Donchess was adopted by the Board of Aldermen with an increase of only 1.6%," City Treasurer David Fredette said in a statement. "The budget was nearly $1 million lower than the spending cap would have allowed. The spending cap was ruled to be unenforceable by the New Hampshire Superior Court."
