"Whenever I pop into her classroom, I am stepping into a vibrant laboratory where students are designing experiments, analyzing results, and discussing their findings – all with Marissa's thoughtful guidance. She truly pushes them to discover answers rather than simply receive information," said Jennifer Cava, Director of the Academy for Science and Design. "Students consistently demonstrate not only academic excellence but also genuine passion for scientific inquiry in Mrs. McMahon's classes—a testament to her effectiveness as an educator," said Melissa Merhalski, Assistant Director of ASD.
Beyond classroom teaching, McMahon founded the Genetics Club and recently supported a Women in STEM group that provides additional opportunities for students. She also serves as an advisor and mentor to eleven seniors for their capstone projects, providing individualized guidance that helps these students produce college-level research and presentations.
