NASHUA, NH — Nashua police responded to East Hollis Street Monday morning for a report that a man was attempting to steal an AMR ambulance while the crew was on a medical call.

AMR personnel contacted dispatch and requested police to respond to the scene. Officers located Anthony Lamontagne, 22, after they found him sitting behind the wheel of the ambulance and turning the steering wheel, according to Sgt. John Cinelli of the Nashua Police Department.

"It doesn’t appear he tried to leave with the ambulance, but when confronted by fire personnel Lamontagne tried to leave the scene and was detained," he said. "No one was injured and there was no damage to the ambulance."
