
Deborah Sue (Bertrand) McNally, 63, of Nashua, died Monday, April 15, 2013 at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston after a brief illness.
A resident of Nashua for most of her life, Deborah was born in Massapequa, Long Island, N.Y. on Oct. 7, 1949, a daughter of Lucille M. (Quigley) Bertrand of Nashua and the late Albert R. Bertrand. Educated in local schools, Deborah was a graduate of Nashua High School Class of 1967 and furthered her education at the University of New Hampshire where she earned a Bachelor's degree in education in 1971.
Mrs. McNally began her teaching career at the James B. Crowley School in Nashua from 1971 to 1977 and then at the Harold Martin Elementary School in Hopkinton from 1990 until her retirement in 2009.
Deborah was a member of Nashua Retired Teachers Association and had been an active volunteer with the Humane Society for Greater Nashua, the Nashua Senior Center and the Nashua Historical Society.
In addition to her mother, Deborah is survived by her husband Thomas Phyllides of Concord; a daughter, Marissa McNally of Bernville, Pa.; a grandson, Derek Benjamin Carter of Bernville, Pa.; five brothers, Douglas Bertrand and his wife Holly, Daniel Bertrand, David Bertrand, Christopher Bertrand and Thomas Bertrand; a niece, Louise Marie Bertrand; and several cousins.
There are no calling hours.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Christopher Church, 62 Manchester Street, Nashua, Saturday morning, April 20, at 11 a.m. Family and friends are invited to attend and will gather at the church.
