Jeannette Marie Demarais, 94, Loved a Good Day at the Races

Jeannette Marie Demarais, 94, of Manchester, formerly of Nashua, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013.

Born April 18, 1919, in Nashua, she was the daughter of the late Gustave and Corana (Fortier) LaFontain and widow of Raymond Demarais, who died Jan. 12, 1978, and whom she married on June 19, 1949, in Nashua. A son-in-law, Brian Locke, also predeceased her.

Jeannette was a homemaker who loved horse racing all her adult life and would go to the former Rockingham Race Track every chance she got with her friends. She also enjoyed playing bingo and was an avid reader, reading an average of one book a week. She had a talent for art and often drew and colored with her grandchildren.

Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, George Demarais and his wife, Judith, of Derry, Maurice Demarais of Hollis and Ronald Demarais and his wife, Sheri, of Florissant, Colo.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Theresa Kyrousis and her husband, Bill, of Walpole and Linda Locke of Nashua; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.


SERVICES: Visiting hours will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home, 1 Lock St., Nashua.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, April 30, at 10 a.m. in St. Louis De Gonzague Church, 48 W. Hollis St., Nashua.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may meet at the church. Burial will follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jeannette's loving memory to Maple Leaf Health Care Center, 198 Pearl St., Manchester 03104.
