
Sonja St. Cyr passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on June 15, 2013 at Elliott Hospital in Manchester, NH.
Sonja was born August 16, 1943 in Carbondale, Pennsylvania to John and Helen Paulsen. She was later raised by Joseph and Helen McAvoy in New Bedford, MA after her parents' deaths. She loved to knit and play with her 1 year old granddaughter. She was a very involved and vibrant member of the community. Sonja was the owner of a dance studio in Nashua and a volunteer at the St. Christopher School also in Nashua. She owned a gift store in Amherst, NH named Cheski's as well. She practiced Tai Chi and loved to cook for everyone including her dearly beloved dog Hans. Earlier in her life, she was an avid dancer; working with many notable dancers in New York City.
Sonja is survived by her husband of 48 years, Richard St. Cyr. She leaves two children; her son Dean St. Cyr of New Boston, NH and her daughter Franziska (St. Cyr) Gorski of Brookline, NH. Her grandchildren Jake St. Cyr of Milford, NH, Luke Rocknak of Milford, NH and Adeline Gorski of Brookline, NH will miss her dearly. Her only sibling, Roger precedes her in death. Sonja also leaves behind countless friends and additional family members all who will miss her lively spirit.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 5 - 8 p.m. at French and Rising Funeral Home 17 South Mast Street Goffstown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday 10 a.m. at St. Lawrence Church of Goffstown. Burial will be in Shirley Hill Cemetery.
