Boys & Girls Club Chorus in Concert June 12
The concert June 12 is free and open to the public.
The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua Chorus will hold its first concert June 12 and the public is invited to the free show.
It is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at the club's 47 Grand Avenue location.
The chorus is a 10-week program, which concludes with the June 12 performance. The choral groups have been practicing a variety of songs, including a few pop songs and songs from the soundtracks of recent hit movies. In addition to singing, they are also designing their own choreography to go along with both the melodies and stories behind the songs.
The choral program was launched in early April and is organized into two groups: one for members 8 to 12 years and a second group for teens.
When Michael O’Keefe, cultural arts director for the Club, was seeking to launch the choral program, he contacted North Main Music, the music school that helped Alex Preston tune up his skills before becoming a finalist on the current season of "American Idol." Both choral groups are being taught by veteran North Main Music voice and guitar instructor DeAnna Coleman.

"We’ve been very pleased with the choral program so far," said O’Keefe, in a press release. "Not only are the kids learning about various singing and musical techniques, but they are also gaining confidence and having a great time."
"Ms. Coleman is the most wonderful teacher I have ever worked with," Club member Sophia, a member of the 8 to 12 year old choral group, said in the press release.
