City Of Nashua Extends Mask, Face Covering Mandate
Everyone over the age of 2, regardless of vaccination status, is required to wear a mask in public settings through Feb. 28.

NASHUA, NH — The city has extended its mask and face-covering mandate through the end of February.
Last week, the board of alderman approved an extension of the previous mask mandate ordinance by a 9 to 6 vote, as proposed by the board of health. The face-covering ordinance applies to every person who is 2-years-old or older regardless of their vaccination status.
The extension is effective through Feb. 28.

Previously, in late December 2021, the vote was 12-1 by the board to re-institute the mandate.
“During the month of January, Nashua continued to experience a significant increase in COVID-19 cases, which in turn put tremendous strain on the area hospital emergency rooms and facility capacity,” according to Mackenzie Varieur, the CDC Public Health Associate for the city of Nashua Division of Public Health & Community Services. “With continued cold temperatures and winter weather, individuals continue to engage in indoor activities that increase crowding in indoor public settings for gatherings, traveling, shopping and other venues, and make spread of the COVID-19 virus more likely.”

The recommendation to extend the mask ordinance was made based on substantial community transmission the city of Nashua continues to experience, Varieur said.
Employees of all businesses must wear a mask over their mouth and nose when interacting with the public and whenever they are within 6 feet of a co-worker or customer.
Members of the public, entering any business, including, without limitation, any outdoor area where business of any sort is conducted must also cover their nose and mouth.
Businesses must also post “face coverings required” signs at all public entrances of the businesses.
