Convicted Felon Found with Firearm, but Not Stolen Gun

The Nashua Police Department's Special Reaction Team arrested the man May 20.

The Nashua Police Department arrested a convicted felon found in possession of a firearm, but not with the gun he was accused of stealing from a car parked at a residence earlier this month.

The department's Special Reaction Team arrested Richard Lariviere, 44, of 5 Woodfield St., Nashua, for the Class B felony as he was trying to leave the Country Barn Motel in a car May 20, police said.

He was taken into custody without incident. A search warrant located a firearm, as well as a knife and a small amount of heroin, according to police.

Detectives were investigating that Lariviere, a convicted felon, was in possession of at least one handgun.

Lariviere was also charged with theft in connection with a report that he stole a firearm from a car in Nashua earlier in May. Police said the firearm recovered from his car May 20 was not the firearm reported stolen.

Police continue to search for the missing firearm.
