Driver in Fatal Crash Had Blood Alcohol Twice Legal Limit

Nghia Huynh told state police he had done five shots of brandy at his home in Nashua before he went to pick up his son in Kittery, ME.

The driver in a 3-car accident that claimed the life of his own son had a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit at the time of the crash, according to police.

Nghia Huynh, 37, of Nashua was in court Monday for a probable cause hearing, according to WGME-TV in Maine. State troopers testified that Huynh told them he had done five shots of brandy at his home in Nashua before he went to pick up his son in Kittery, ME. Police also found a bottle of brandy on the floor of his vehicle after the crash.

Huynh's son, Kobe Huynh, 14, who was suffering from terminal cancer, was killed in the crash on Feb. 21 on the Everett Turnpike in Merrimack. Nghia Huynh is charged with negligent homicide and aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol.
